It’s a common fact that nowadays people generally have fewer hours in the day to do the simple things in life such as washing the dishes after a nice family meal or telling your partner how your day was. We are on the move 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
To keep up with this pace we have gadgets that do the things we simply cannot or won’t do. There are toilets that will pay your credit card bills, toasters that will transfer your money and then there is the dishwasher that, well cleans and dries your cutlery and crockery with some even polishing your knives and forks.
With marigolds becoming obsolete very soon we need these amazing machines to work all the time. Sadly this is not always the case and like us they need some TLC and maintenance work if they are to keep up in today’s society.
Based on my comprehensive research, I have compiled a list of the most common dishwasher ailments from blockages to overflows, and the solutions that will take you 5 minutes and potentially cost you $0.
The dishwasher is not draining properly. One of the most common problems owners face, but luckily there are a few simple tips to identify and resolve. The filter may be blocked. You can find this inside the base or on the side of the dishwasher. Make sure all airways are clear of food and the filter is clean.
Check the drain hose is clear— this is normally the long rigged bend hose. Blow down it to ensure the hose is clear of any potential blockages.
Check the drain valve is working, this can be located next to the solenoid at the back of the dishwasher. If the drain valve moves freely then it is fine and working. However if it is stuck and will not move then this means the solenoid is burned out and needs replacing.
One issue that causes the most headaches and distress is the dishwasher that leaks and floods all over the floor—usually while you are out. Or when you think your dishwasher has finished its cycle and you open the door and all the dirty water spills out and floods your floor. A problem like this is simple to diagnose—you have a blockage. Determining where the blockage originates from is another story.
The kitchen basin has the most complex plumbing connections underneath and these pipes connect multiple appliances and if a blockage occurs this can cause multiple blockages, toilet blockages and overflows, in addition to the major drains-stormwater and sewage drains blocking up, pipe displacement or a serious blockage somewhere.
Plumbing is connected all throughout the house, some visible and others inconspicuous.
As soon as you notice a blockage with your dishwasher or anywhere inside or outside your property, it is strongly advisable to call in the blockage specialists like Wilco plumbing. With state-of-the-art equipment and years of experience, it is no wonder so many people turn to wilco when there is a nasty blockage that has stopped your toilet, shower or water from working.
